UW College of Education Ranked Among Nation’s Best — with Multiple Programs in the Top 10

In the 2025 U.S. News & World Report rankings of best graduate schools, the University of Washington College of Education continues to be recognized as one of the nation’s top public education schools.
Three of the College’s programs rank in the top 10 nationwide:
- Elementary Teacher Education – No. 6 overall, No. 4 among public universities
- Secondary Teacher Education – No. 6 overall, No. 5 public
- Curriculum and Instruction – No. 8 overall, No. 6 public
The College is tied for No. 22 overall and No. 13 among public institutions.
While we celebrate the national recognition of our programs, the College is also clear-eyed about the limitations of ranking systems.
“Rankings don’t tell the full story of a school’s mission, values or impact,” said UW College of Education Dean Mia Tuan. “As a public institution, our greatest strength lies in our commitment to expanding access, equity and justice in education — here in Washington and beyond.
“Our impact is most visible in the deep partnerships we’ve built with communities, the students we’ve supported, the faculty and staff who thrive here, and the alumni who are leading transformative work across the state,” Tuan continued. “Together with our partners, we’re pushing forward educational justice for all children.”
